Every item below is something the roaster itself offered on its own site when we checked on September 27, 2026. We left out prices, because they change and we did not record them. Flathead Valley: Whitefish and Columbia Falls
Montana Coffee Traders has roasted south of Whitefish since 1981, in a farmhouse you can spot by the chuck wagon out front. It has the best experience gift on this list: a roast tour and tasting at the roastery on Tuesday mornings, by reservation. For something to unwrap, it sells subscriptions, flavored coffees, single serve formats and corporate gifts, with blends such as Montana Blend, Grizzly Blend and Rising Wolf. Its cafes sit on Central Avenue in downtown Whitefish and on 9th Street West in Columbia Falls.
Missoula and the Bitterroot
Black Coffee Roasting Company on East Spruce Street roasts only certified organic coffee. For a gift, look at its sample pack, its subscription, and its organic instant coffee, sold in stick packs and in recyclable aluminum tins made in the United States. The instant suits a friend who camps. Its find your roast quiz helps if you do not know what they drink.
Drum Coffee runs two Missoula cafes, each with a bakery, and sells subscriptions. Its Special Reserve line is the gift pick: small lots the roasters choose for quality, sold in limited amounts.
Hunter Bay has roasted since 1991 and now roasts in Lolo, where the Bitterroot Valley begins. It sells subscriptions and blends with Montana names, among them Smoke Jumper, Back Country and Big Sky Organic. The Toole Ave Cafe on the Northside takes catering orders if the gift is a morning for a crowd.
Down the valley, Big Creek roasts in Victor and pours coffee in a 1904 corner building on West Main Street in Hamilton. Its Coffees of the World subscription comes with a six month gift option, and its Roaster's Choice subscription is the simpler pick.
Florence Coffee Company started as one coffee stand in Florence in 2003 and now runs 23 shops, mostly drive-thrus, across western Montana. It sells 12 oz, 2 lb and 5 lb bags, and its Miner's Blend is named for Butte, where all of its coffee has been roasted since 2023.
Bozeman, Big Sky and the Shields Valley
Treeline Coffee Roasters began in 2013 as a food truck and now roasts at its Roasting Room on North Wallace. The gift options run wide: Roaster's Choice and Crowd Pleasers subscriptions, a decaf subscription, single origin coffee pods, and instant coffee in regular and decaf. It also runs a cafe at the base in Big Sky.
Yellowstone Coffee Roasters has roasted since 1998, when Tim and Liz Weyer started in a log cabin. It sells a subscription and small limited releases. Its seasonal Free Range coffee supports the Western Sustainability Exchange, which makes it a gift with a second purpose.
Ghost Town sells something unusual: green, unroasted coffee for home roasters. For the person who already has every gadget, that is a real present. Its three Bozeman cafes and its blends named 1889, Homestead and Drinking Horse cover the easier gifts.
Red Bird Coffee has no cafe but sells a subscription you can pause or cancel, and its bags turn up at Wild Joe's Coffee Spot on West Main Street and at Town and Country stores around the state. Its Brazilian peaberry microlots from Bahia are the thing to look for.
North of Livingston, RamsHead is a family roastery that ships within a day of roasting and leans toward microlots, Geishas and Ethiopian coffees. For a coffee nerd, that is the gift. Rockford Coffee on East Main Street in Bozeman roasts everything it serves and sells its 2010 Blend of Sumatra and Ethiopia.
Helena, Philipsburg and Great Falls
Firetower Coffee House and Roasters on Last Chance Gulch in Helena roasts all its beans organic, in house, and sells three of them whole or ground: an espresso roast, an Ethiopian light roast and a Mexican French dark roast. The room is known for its record collection and signed guitars, so a bag from here suits the music fan.
Philipsburg Coffee Roasters keeps its range to seven roasts, with no added flavorings, and names them for ranching in the Flint Creek Valley: Beaverslide, Draft Horse, Black Angus, Hay-Lo. For someone from ranch country, those names do half the work of the gift.
Morning Light Coffee Roasters started in Helena in 1988 and has roasted in Great Falls since 1989. It sells a monthly subscription, coffee by the pound and single serve cups.
Billings and Laurel
Mazevo Coffee started in a Billings garage in 2016 and now has seven cafes. Its sampler subscription and five-bag best sellers pack are ready-made gifts, and The Blonde Bear and The Woodsman are its signature coffees.
Rock Creek Coffee Roasters has roasted inside its shop on North Broadway since 2004 and is Made in Montana certified. It sells Coffee Club subscriptions with your choice of roast, grind, bag size and schedule, and Pour-ta Packs, single serve pour overs that travel well. It has also made coffee soaps with other local businesses.
Revel Coffee roasts to order on a Loring Kestrel and leans on light and experimental lots, such as co-fermented and anaerobic coffees. It also makes branded coffee for gifts and fundraisers, which matters if you are buying for a group.
