Is a coffee subscription worth it?
It is worth it if you finish a bag every 2 to 4 weeks and want coffee roasted to order by a Montana roaster instead of whatever is on the shelf. You pay $16.99 a bag, any roast, the first bag is free with $7.99 shipping, and you can skip, pause or cancel online.
If you drink a bag every two months, it is not worth it. Buy a bag from a roaster near you when you run out.
How is this different from buying a bag at the store?
Your bag is roasted after you order it and shipped within 3 days, and it comes from a different independent Montana roaster each box. A store shelf holds whatever arrived last, from wherever it was roasted.
The money goes further too. A bag from a small Montana roastery pays for roasting in its own town. That is the case we make on the support local page.
Plans and price
How much does it cost?
$16.99 a bag, any roast. Espresso, decaf and single origins cost the same. Your first bag is free, and you pay $7.99 shipping on that first box.
Is the first bag really free?
Yes, the coffee is free. You pay $7.99 shipping for the first box, charged at checkout, and then $16.99 a bag. It is one free bag per customer, matched by email and shipping address.
Is shipping included in the $16.99?
No. $16.99 is the price of the bag. Shipping on your first box is $7.99, and checkout shows the shipping before you pay. Gift boxes are different: gift prices include shipping.
What can I choose?
Roast level (light, medium, dark or mix it up), style (single origin, blend, espresso or decaf), whole bean or ground, one or two bags a box, and every 2 or 4 weeks. Three quick questions on the plan builder can set the roast and style for you.
Can two people with different tastes share a box?
Yes. Choose two bags and set the second one to its own roast and style: a dark blend and a decaf, a light single origin and an espresso. Both bags come in the same box, from two different roasters.
Do you sell other bag sizes?
No. Every bag is 12 oz, whole bean or ground. Ground coffee comes ground for drip, pour over, French press or espresso.
Gifts
Can I send the club as a gift?
Yes. A gift is 3, 6 or 12 boxes for $66.99, $134.99 or $269.99, shipping included, one bag per box. Details are on the gifts page.
Does a gift renew?
No. You pay once and the gift ends after the last box. Nobody gets charged again.
Can I send a gift to someone who moved away from Montana?
Yes. Gifts ship anywhere in the US, and a bag roasted back home is the point for someone who left.
Can I choose when the gift starts?
Yes. You pick the start date, the roast and the grind when you order, and you can add a gift note if you want one.
Delivery
How fresh is the coffee?
Roasted and shipped within 3 days. The roaster roasts your bag after the order comes in and ships it from the roastery.
Who ships my box?
The roaster does, in their own bag and packaging, with our packing slip inside. We do not warehouse coffee.
What is in the box?
Your 12 oz bag, or two, in the roaster's own packaging, and a packing slip that names the roaster and their shop, tells their story and lists what to taste for.
Do you ship outside Montana?
Yes, to any address in the US.
Roasters
Which roasters are in the club?
Independent roasters that roast in Montana. We list local favorites on the roasters page, from Whitefish to Billings. A listing does not mean the roaster is part of the club.
Will I get the same roaster twice?
Not for a long while. The Roast Local directory lists 47 independent roasters in Montana (September 2026), and each box comes from one you have not had from us before.
How do you choose roasters?
A roaster has to be independent, roast in Montana, and be operating when we check. The full policy is on the sourcing page.
Do roasters get a fair price?
Roasters set their own wholesale price, and we never ask them to cut it. They roast, pack and ship in their own bag.
Your account
Can I skip, pause or cancel?
Yes, online, any time before the next box is roasted. Every email we send has the links.
Will I know before I am charged?
Yes. A reminder email comes 3 days before each box, so nothing ships by surprise.
What if I do not like a bag?
Free replacement if a bag disappoints. Tell us and we send a different coffee, and your rating steers the next bag.
Can I get a second free bag with a new email?
No. The free first bag is one per customer, matched by email and by street address and ZIP.
