What the espresso plan sends
The espresso bean subscription is the club with the style set to espresso. Every 2 or 4 weeks, an independent Montana roaster roasts a 12 oz bag of coffee meant for the espresso machine, to order, and ships it in their own bag. Whole bean, or ground for espresso. $16.99 a bag, the same as any other roast. Your first bag is free and you pay $7.99 shipping on that first box.
What it does not send: pods, capsules, a machine, milk or syrups. It is beans in a bag, from a roaster in Montana.
Montana roasters we list that roast espresso
These are espresso coffees each roaster sold on its own site when we checked on September 27, 2026. Coffee lists change, and this is a list of what they roast, not of what any box will hold.
- Treeline Coffee Roasters in Bozeman has three named espresso blends: Alpenglow, Blackbeard and Rock Me Mama.
- RamsHead, in the Shields Valley north of Livingston, roasts Backwoods Espresso, Snowfield and Vienne's espresso blends, and a single origin espresso from El Salvador.
- Ghost Town in Bozeman roasts Emerald Espresso.
- Yellowstone Coffee Roasters, roasting in Bozeman since 1998, sells Headwaters Espresso as a dark roast.
- Rockford Coffee on East Main in Bozeman blends its house espresso from Americas, Africa and Indonesia coffees.
- Drum Coffee in Missoula roasts the Luigi Espresso Blend.
- Hunter Bay in Lolo roasts Montanaro Espresso.
- Rock Creek in Billings sells a medium roast Espresso Blend.
- Philipsburg Coffee Roasters calls its espresso Draft Horse, one of a range kept to seven roasts.
- Firetower Coffee House and Roasters on Last Chance Gulch in Helena roasts an organic espresso roast in house.
Bozeman alone has four of them. Listing a roaster here does not mean it is part of the club.
Why a Montana roaster's espresso
Your bag is roasted after you order and shipped within 3 days, from a roastery a short trip away if you live in the state, and the money pays that roastery and its crew. Philipsburg Coffee Roasters roasts in 10 pound batches inside a coffee bar on West Broadway. Every bag bought from a roaster that size pays for the next batch. More on why this matters: support local Montana roasters.
Setting it up
Open the plan builder and set the style to espresso. Roast level stays your call: light, medium, dark, or mix it up. Choose whole bean if you grind at the machine, or ground for espresso if you do not. Want coffee for the drip pot too? Add a second bag with its own roast and style, and it comes in the same box from a second roaster.
Espresso subscription questions
Is espresso a different kind of bean?
No. Espresso is a way of brewing, and a coffee sold as espresso is one the roaster built and roasted for that brew. Most are blends, and RamsHead sells a single origin espresso.
How much does the espresso subscription cost?
$16.99 a 12 oz bag, the same as every roast. The first bag is free, and you pay $7.99 shipping on that first box.
Can I get the beans ground for espresso?
Yes. Choose ground, then espresso, and the roaster grinds it for your machine. Whole bean is the other option.
Can one box hold espresso and drip coffee?
Yes. Choose two bags and give the second one its own style, such as a medium blend for the drip machine.
