RamsHead Coffee Roasters is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Montana: an independent roaster based in Shields Valley. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
RamsHead Coffee Roasters was started by Patrick and Sarah Flemming, both Bozeman natives, as a local family business selling artisan whole bean coffee. Patrick is head roaster, and both he and Sarah are certified roasters through the Specialty Coffee Association. Patrick also runs a sister company, Beacon Coffee Roasters. The whole family works in the business, with their children Landon and Natalie helping with roasting, packing and quality checks.
The roastery is in the Shields Valley, north of Livingston, and beans ship within a day of roasting. RamsHead buys fair trade, specialty grade coffee, specializing in high end microlots, with a strong lean toward Ethiopian coffees, Geishas and rare varieties. In March 2026 the team paused shipping for a trip to Atlanta to help with refugee aid work.
It supplies coffee houses, cafes, restaurants, bakeries, bed and breakfasts, office complexes and schools around the country, and helps them choose coffee and equipment.
What they roast
House blends include Grizzly Peak Blend and Lone Peak Blend. Single origins on the list when we checked: Ethiopia Werka Nensebo, natural, Ethiopia Guji Shakiso Gigeso, natural, Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Biloya, anaerobic natural, Kenya Murang'a AA, Costa Rica Hacienda La Minita, Colombia Finca Monteblanco, anaerobic, Rwanda Muhororo, anaerobic and Nicaragua La Bastilla. Backwoods Espresso, Snowfield Espresso Blend, Vienne's Espresso Blend, and a single origin El Salvador espresso. Colombia sugarcane decaf.
