How this list works

The best Montana coffee subscription for you depends on one question first: do you want one Montana roaster's coffee on repeat, a different Montana roaster each time, or coffee from anywhere in the country? This page lists every option we found for a coffee drinker in Montana in 2026, and gives each one the same seven fields.

Last Best Coffee Club publishes this page. Our own club is on the list, and it gets the same fields as everyone else, with no adjectives. There are no scores and no ranking. The order is ours first because we wrote the page, then the Montana roasters by town from Billings to Whitefish, then the two national services.

The roaster roasts it to order and ships it in their own bag, with our packing slip naming the roaster, their shop and what to taste for. $16.99 a bag, any roast. You set the roast level (light, medium, dark or mix it up), the style (single origin, blends, espresso-friendly or decaf) and whole bean or ground. A box holds one or two bags, and the second bag comes from a second roaster and can have its own roast and style. Gifts run 3, 6 or 12 boxes at $66.99, $134.99 or $269.99 with shipping included, and they do not renew. Our four promises: "Roasted and shipped within 3 days." It suits someone who wants to drink across Montana without ordering from a dozen shops. It does not suit someone who already has a favorite roaster and wants that one coffee every time: that person should subscribe with the roaster directly, and eleven of the roasters below run their own.

Montana roasters that run their own subscription

Eleven of the Montana roasters we follow list a subscription on their own site. A roaster's own club puts your coffee money straight into one Montana roastery. These entries use only what we read on each roaster's site on September 27, 2026. We have no agreement with any of them, and listing them here is not a partnership.

Mazevo Coffee, Billings

Mazevo began in a Billings garage in January 2016 and now lists seven cafes: four in Billings, one each in Laurel, Bozeman and Missoula. Its site offers a sampler subscription and a five-bag best sellers pack. It roasts light, medium and dark, with named coffees such as The Blonde Bear and The Woodsman, a light Hyline Blend and Mellow Creek Swiss Decaf.

Rock Creek Coffee Roasters, Billings

Rock Creek has roasted in its shop on North Broadway in downtown Billings since 2004. Its Coffee Club lets a subscriber pick the roast, whole bean or ground, the bag size and the delivery schedule, then skip, reschedule or cancel at any time. That is the most detail on terms that any Montana roaster's site gave us. The lineup leans on medium roasts from Costa Rica, Colombia, Mexico and Brazil, with a Grade 1 Sumatra and Mike's French Roast on the dark side.

Red Bird Coffee, Bozeman

Red Bird is a family owned Bozeman roastery with no cafe of its own. Its subscription lets you pause and cancel, and its current list features light roasted Brazilian peaberry microlots from Bahia. If you want a light roast from one Montana family, this is the focused choice.

Treeline Coffee Roasters, Bozeman

Treeline started as a Bozeman food truck in 2013 and roasts lighter than most, by its own description. It runs two subscriptions, Roaster's Choice and Crowd Pleasers, plus a decaf Roaster's Choice. It also sells three named espresso blends: Alpenglow, Blackbeard and Rock Me Mama.

Yellowstone Coffee Roasters, Bozeman

Yellowstone has roasted in Bozeman since 1998, when Tim and Liz Weyer started in a log cabin. It lists a subscription alongside blends such as Big Sky Lift and Big Timber, limited releases and a decaf, across light, medium and dark roasts. Its seasonal Free Range coffee supports the Western Sustainability Exchange.

Morning Light Coffee Roasters, Great Falls

Morning Light started roasting in Helena in 1988 and has roasted in Great Falls since 1989. It sells coffee by the pound and lists a monthly subscription. Its blends run from the light Big Sky Blend to the dark Black Bison Blend.

Hunter Bay Coffee, Lolo

Hunter Bay started in Missoula in 1991 and roasts in Lolo, where the Bitterroot Valley begins. It lists subscriptions and buys direct trade and certified organic coffees. Its range includes Montanaro Espresso, Harmony Decaf and blends named Smoke Jumper and Back Country.

Black Coffee Roasting Company, Missoula

Black Coffee roasts on East Spruce Street in Missoula and sources only certified organic coffee. Its site has a subscription, a sample pack and a find your roast quiz, and its three blends are named plainly: AM, Red Room and The Dark.

Drum Coffee Roasting, Missoula

Drum runs two Missoula cafes, each with its own bakery. It lists subscriptions, about ten house blends including the Luigi espresso blend, a Special Reserve line of small lots, and Roaster's Choice picks in medium light or medium dark.

Big Creek Coffee Roasters, Victor

Big Creek began in a rebuilt garage, opened a coffee house in a 1904 building in downtown Hamilton in 2012, and now roasts and ships from Victor. It runs two subscriptions: Roaster's Choice and Coffees of the World, and the second has a six month gift option. It is the one Montana roaster in this list whose site names a subscription gift.

Montana Coffee Traders, Whitefish

Montana Coffee Traders has roasted south of Whitefish since 1981, in a farmhouse marked by a chuck wagon out front. It lists subscriptions and corporate gifts, and it is a member of 1% for the Planet. Blends include Montana Blend, Grizzly Blend and Organic Montana Morning.

Trade Coffee

Trade is a national marketplace. You take a quiz, and Trade matches you with coffees from roasters around the country; its roasters page names 55 of them. The roasters ship directly from their roasting facility, roast within 1 to 2 business days of the order and ship within 1 business day of roasting, by Trade's help pages. There are two plans: Essential at $16.99 and Signature at $21.99 for a standard 10.93 oz bag, or $39.99 and $49.99 for a 2 lb bag. Shipping is $3.99 an order if you pay per shipment and free on prepaid bundles of 3, 6 or 12 bags and on 2 lb bags. The Discovery Trial sends 3 bags from 3 roasters with the first bag free. Gifts of 3, 6 or 12 months cost $66, $132 or $264 with shipping included, and they do not renew.

Trade suits someone who wants the widest choice and a quiz to narrow it. It is not a Montana service: its roasters come from around the country. Our Trade Coffee comparison goes field by field.

Atlas Coffee Club

Atlas sends single origin coffee from a new country each month, with a postcard from that country and tasting notes and coffee history for each coffee. Atlas describes itself as a roaster and says its coffee is roasted fresh to order. A standard bag is 12 oz, and its listings also show a 6 oz bag and bulk sizes. Its own first-bag page puts the plan at $16 a bag for two 12 oz bags a shipment after a 28-day free first bag, plus $4.95 shipping a shipment; single-bag plans listed at $17 and $20 when we read them, before the discounts it advertises. You can pause, skip or cancel anytime; its terms ask for 24 hours notice.
