Mazevo Coffee is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Montana: an independent roaster based in Billings, founded in 2016. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Mazevo began in January 2016 as a small roasting operation in the garage of its CEO. Its first espresso bar opened in early January 2017 at 2719 First Ave. N. in downtown Billings, across from the Northern Hotel, in a 250 square foot space that had been a cupcake shop. Owners Damion Taylor and Tyler Nash, then 22 and 23, had grown up together in Glendive. The name comes from a Greek word meaning to gather.
The company grew from that downtown shop to stores in the West End and Shiloh Commons, a King Avenue store announced for June 2023, and later Laurel, Bozeman and Missoula. Its store locator now lists seven cafes. Mazevo's stated mission is to spread joy and encourage people to love one another one cup at a time, and its published values are openly Christian. The company makes micro loans to coffee growing communities, naming Kenya, to help farmers invest in their farms and equipment.
What they roast
Roast levels run light, medium and dark. House blends include Blonde Bear (medium), Korban Blend (medium), The Woodsman (dark) and Hyline Blend (light).
