Their story
Red Bird Coffee is a family owned roastery in Bozeman. Owners Ron and Helen bought the business more than 11 years ago to keep serving the Gallatin Valley and beyond. Ron and Helen come in before sunrise each day to roast. They set three goals: buy great coffee and roast it well, support farming families and their communities, and use their buying to encourage care for the land.
Red Bird says it pays farmers at least fair trade prices and often more, and values direct ties with small farmers who cannot afford the yearly cost of certification. It says money from its coffee helps pay for schools, medical care, better milling equipment, reforestation, water systems and housing for farm families and workers. Its current list features Brazilian peaberry microlots from Bahia.
Beyond its own bags, Red Bird does white label, cafe and retail wholesale, taking accounts from under 25 pounds to more than 500 pounds a month.
