Treeline Coffee Roasters is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Montana: an independent roaster based in Bozeman, founded in 2013. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Founder Natalie Van Dusen fell for coffee on a motorcycle trip through Colombia, where she met a coffee farmer named Don Eilas. Back in San Francisco she taught herself to roast in a cast iron skillet on the stove, practiced for six years, then left a career in tech to roast full time. The business opened in Bozeman in 2013 as Little Red Wagon Coffee Roasters, a food truck carrying a small custom San Franciscan SF-6 roaster the team called Francis.
In 2016 it became Treeline Coffee Roasters, a name chosen to tie its coffee to time spent outdoors in the mountains. It now roasts on a custom mint green San Franciscan SF-25 named Beulah and runs cafes in Bozeman's Northside and downtown, plus one at the base in Big Sky. Treeline roasts in small batches, generally lighter than industry norms, and buys seasonally from farms it picks for quality, fair working conditions and sustainable practices. The team makes a point of visiting producing countries.
The owners were named SBA Small Business Persons of the Year in 2022, the company has been WBENC certified as a women's business enterprise since 2023, and its Tropical Sunset coffee was a 2026 Good Food Awards finalist.
What they roast
Roast levels run light, medium and dark. House blends include Happy Camper, Alpenglow Espresso, Blackbeard Espresso, Rock Me Mama Espresso, Dawn to Dusk (half caff) and By the Light of the Moon. Single origins on the list when we checked: Rotating seasonal single origins; Tropical Sunset was a 2026 Good Food Awards finalist. Three named espresso blends: Alpenglow, Blackbeard and Rock Me Mama. Decaf Roaster's Choice subscription and decaf instant coffee; method not stated.
