Their story
Philipsburg Coffee Roasters is family owned. Scott and Julie Fink and Frank and Bryanna Zavala bought the business in the fall of 2024. Frank Zavala handles roasting and online sales, Julie Fink runs the cafe at Granite Gathering Grounds, and Bryanna Zavala keeps the books and social media. The roastery adds no flavorings, syrups or chemicals, and makes everything in Montana from coffee bought around the world.
It roasts in small 10 pound batches and keeps a large stock of green coffee on hand so bags are roasted fresh. The brand takes its cue from farming and ranching in the Flint Creek Valley, and its roast names, such as Beaverslide, Draft Horse, Black Angus and Hay-Lo, nod to that heritage. It keeps its range to seven roasts, favoring quality over a long list.

House blends include Beaverslide (Rwanda and Ethiopia blend), Hay-Lo, Vaquero and Black Angus. Single origins on the list when we checked: JackLeg (Colombia). Draft Horse espresso.
