How this list was made
To drink Bozeman roasters' coffee where it is roasted, go to the eight cafes below: three run by Ghost Town, three by Treeline (one of them in Big Sky), one by Rockford, and one by Mazevo, which roasts in Billings. Every cafe on the list meets three rules, stated here so you can check them:
- The cafe is run by a roaster we list, and that roaster is independent and roasts in Montana.
- The roaster published the cafe's name and street on its own site when we checked on September 27, 2026.
- We say what the cafe pours only when the roaster says it. We did not visit, rate or rank anyone.
Cafes change hours and menus. Check before you drive over. After the cafes, you will find where to buy the Bozeman roasters that run no cafe at all. Florence Coffee Company runs shops across western Montana, but none of the shop addresses we recorded from its site is in Bozeman, so it is not on this list.
Where the coffee is roasted: two roastery cafes
Treeline Roasting Room, 624 North Wallace
This is the one to visit if you want to see the roaster while you drink. The Treeline Roasting Room on the north side of town is the company's roastery and a cafe in one room, in what Treeline calls the Northside Mill District. Treeline roasts in small batches on a custom San Franciscan SF-25 and says it roasts lighter than industry norms.
Treeline roasts three named espresso blends: Alpenglow, Blackbeard and Rock Me Mama. For a late afternoon cup, it roasts Dawn to Dusk, a half caff. Its single origins rotate with the seasons, and one of them, Tropical Sunset, was a 2026 Good Food Awards finalist.
Ghost Town Bridger Center Cafe, 104 Bridger Center Dr. Ste A
Ghost Town does all of its roasting and wholesale production in this building, and the cafe and an in-house bakery share it. If a Bozeman restaurant or office pours Ghost Town, the beans came out of this address.
The list here is long. Ghost Town roasts more than a dozen blends, including 1889, Alpine, Homestead, Drinking Horse, Marla Joy and a Bourbon Barrel coffee, plus the Emerald Espresso. Its single origins on September 27, 2026 ran from a Colombia Mist Gesha to an Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Edido and a washed Rwanda from the Sholi Cooperative. It is also the one Bozeman roaster we list that sells green, unroasted coffee to people who roast at home.
Downtown: four cafes
Four of the eight cafes are downtown, run by three different roasters, so you can compare them in one morning.
Rockford Coffee, 18 East Main Street
Rockford is the downtown cafe for people who want breakfast with the coffee. It opens early every day, bakes its pastries each morning, and serves poached eggs on toast, burritos and avocado toast until early afternoon. Sandwiches come on baguette from the local Co-op.
Everything poured is roasted in house. The list pairs three house blends with four single origins: an Espresso Blend of Americas, Africa and Indonesia coffees, the 2010 Blend of Sumatra and Ethiopia, a Dark House Blend, and single origins from Papua New Guinea, Ethiopia's Guji zone, Nicaragua and Guatemala. It is also the Bozeman cafe to try for decaf: its Brazil decaf is made by the Mountain Water Process, and Rockford is the only Bozeman roaster we list that names its decaf method.
Treeline at The Lark, 136 West Main Street
Treeline's downtown cafe sits on West Main. The coffee is Treeline's own, roasted at the Roasting Room on North Wallace.
Ghost Town Black and Olive Cafe, 110 East Olive St.
Ghost Town One 11 Cafe, 110 West Beall St.
Ghost Town runs these two downtown cafes on top of the Bridger Center one, so you can drink its coffee downtown without driving out to the roastery. Both pour coffee roasted at the Bridger Center roastery.
Roasted in Billings, poured in Bozeman, and up at Big Sky
Mazevo Coffee, 7715 Shedhorn Dr
Mazevo roasts in Billings and runs seven cafes, and this is its Bozeman one. The menu is an espresso bar, affogato included. Its signature coffees are The Blonde Bear, a medium roast, and The Woodsman, a dark one, and it roasts a light Hyline Blend and a medium decaf called Mellow Creek Swiss Decaf. Mazevo also takes room reservations at its cafes through its website, which helps if you need a table for a group.
Treeline at the Base, Big Sky
Treeline runs a cafe at the base area in Big Sky. It did not publish a street address for it, so look for it at the base. If you ski or hike out of Big Sky, it is the one Bozeman roaster's cafe on the mountain.
Bozeman roasters with no cafe: where to find them
Three roasters we list in the Bozeman area do not describe a cafe of their own. Here is where their coffee turns up.
- Red Bird Coffee: poured at Wild Joe's Coffee Spot on West Main Street, and sold at L and F Market in Manhattan and at Town and Country stores in Bozeman, Belgrade, Livingston and other towns. Look for its light roasted Brazilian peaberry from Bahia.
- Yellowstone Coffee Roasters: roasts on Bozeman Hill Road and sells online, by subscription and wholesale. Its Headwaters Espresso is a dark roast.
- RamsHead Coffee Roasters: roasts in the Shields Valley north of Livingston and sells online and wholesale, leaning toward Ethiopian coffees, Geishas and rare varieties.

When you are back home
A cup at the Roasting Room or on East Main pays a Bozeman barista and keeps a Bozeman roaster buying green coffee for next month. The same holds for the bag you carry out. Wikipedia's Bozeman article says the town has grown from the sixth largest city in Montana in the early 1980s to the fourth.
