Dobson Creek Coffee Company is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Montana: an independent roaster based in Ronan, founded in 2004. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Dobson Creek began in 2004 in a home shop in the woods of north Idaho, run by a man whose land had the creek running through it. Two brothers from Montana's Mission Valley, both regular customers, bought the business in 2010 and kept its blends, labels and logos as they were. The single origins are roasted light to medium to bring out the character of each growing region.
The first owner set up the roaster in a shop beside his house after an accident left him disabled. Locals, sometimes a neighbor on horseback, dropped by to buy beans and watch him roast, and others ordered by mail. Mountain Man is the darkest blend, a smoky Central American and Indonesian mix. Logger combines a medium and a dark roast, and Night Rider pairs East African and Central American coffees. High Country, the only espresso blend, is built on a natural process Brazil plus two other coffees, and its product page adds a story about a red-bearded rider.

House blends include Dobson Creek or Bust Blend, Logger Blend, Mountain Man Blend and Night Rider Blend. Single origins on the list when we checked: Kenya AA, Honduras Natural Aprocomsa Organic, Sumatra Gayo and Ethiopia Yirgacheffe. Espresso: High Country Espresso Blend. Decaf: Decaf Mexico Altura. The Ronan coffee house is open Monday through Saturday and makes its own doughnuts.
